Professor Tania Bishola Tshitenge , a molecular biologist, directs a research laboratory in molecular biology and applied biochemistry , whose work actively contributes to the understanding and resolution of major public health problems.
During the past academic year, four students supervised by Professor Tania Bishola successfully defended their theses , thus obtaining their Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology . This work is part of an innovative research approach, rooted in local realities while addressing global scientific challenges.

From environmental monitoring to infectious diseases
Part of the research conducted within the laboratory focuses on environmental monitoring through the study of wastewater , an increasingly recognized tool for understanding the emergence and transmission of antibiotic-resistant bacteria . These studies help identify the health risks associated with microbiological pollution and guide public health prevention strategies.
Medicinal plants at the heart of biochemical research
In parallel, the laboratory is developing research in the biochemistry of medicinal plants , exploring their potential role in nutrition and the treatment of infectious diseases . By analyzing the bioactive compounds present in certain local plants, researchers aim to enhance traditional knowledge while providing it with rigorous scientific validation.

A scientific and community impact
The research conducted under the direction of Professor Tania Bishola has yielded promising results , sparking interest both within the scientific community and among local populations directly affected by the issues studied. It illustrates the importance of applied research, capable of producing useful knowledge while contributing to the improvement of community health and well-being.
Through the mentoring of young researchers and the development of projects with a strong societal impact, Professor Tania Bishola confirms the essential role of African university laboratories in the production of knowledge, scientific innovation and the training of the next generation.
