Our laboratory
“We are training the next generation of researchers, equipped with the capabilities offered by new technologies.”

The Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Applied to the One Health Concept at the University of Kinshasa is dedicated to advancing science at the interface of human, animal, and environmental health. We integrate molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular screening, omics approaches, bioinformatics, risk mapping, and mathematical modeling to better understand and combat infectious and non-communicable diseases.
Our research focuses include exploring medicinal plants and biological chemistry for new therapeutic strategies, monitoring antimicrobial resistance from a One Health perspective, as well as strengthening surveillance of emerging and re-emerging pathogens.
With a strong commitment to research, innovation and training, we aim to produce knowledge that informs public health, promotes sustainable solutions and contributes to global health security.
Beyond research, we are committed to driving innovation, training the next generation of scientists, and generating evidence that supports health equity and sustainable development in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa, and globally.
Every woman can assert herself,
choose your future, and change the world.
Our Mission
Our mission is to promote high-quality, high-impact research that addresses major health challenges at the interface of human, animal, and environmental health. We are committed to training the next generation of scientists with the skills, knowledge, and innovative mindset needed to address societal challenges. Through a rigorous and collaborative One Health approach, we aim to generate solutions that improve public health, support sustainable development, and strengthen global health security.

Our Vision
We envision a future where world-class research can be achieved in Africa, bringing knowledge, innovation, and evidence-based solutions to local, regional, and global health challenges. We believe that scientific excellence is possible in Africa and that, by empowering researchers and fostering innovation, we can transform health and the environment, foster health equity, and support sustainable development for future generations.
