Dr. Tania Bishola Tshitenge is Associate Professor at the University of Kinshasa and Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry applied to the One Health concept. Her research focuses on post-transcriptional gene regulation in Trypanosoma brucei, the parasite responsible for sleeping sickness, as well as on mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance. She also explores the interactions between pathogens (Mpox Virus, bacteria such as E. coli , V. cholerae , etc.) and the environment from a One Health perspective. At the University of Kinshasa, since January 2023, she has been teaching molecular biology and genetic engineering and supervising Bachelor's and Master's students in their research projects, contributing significantly to the advancement of biomedical research in Central Africa. She is also co-founder and President of the Academy of Sciences for Young People in the DRC (ASJ-RDC), a dynamic platform that promotes science in the DRC and strengthens interactions between young Congolese researchers through science popularization and interdisciplinary exchange programs (https://www.asjrdcongo.com).
